SPECIFICATIONS & GUIDELINES (doc 1.1)

Implementation Schedule of these Specifications and Guidelines

The League wants all schools and riders to comply with these specifications and guidelines by the League Final in 2020. In 2021-season all schools and individual participants to comply with these clothing guidelines. In 2019 riders may only wear their current school-branded and/or Official Spur League Merchandise and/or “neutral” kit at any Spur League event (detailed information to follow)

Riders are only allowed to participate in the Spur MTB League events in:

1. Approved school cycling kit

2. Official Spur League merchandise

3. The school’s official general-purpose casual/sport sleeved shirt and shorts

4. Neutral cycling kit

1. Approved school cycling kit

1.1. All team clothing designs have to be signed off by The League Office/Amarider: joanita@spurmtbleague.co.za

1.2. Schools are allowed more than one approved design per season. (e.g. schools may differentiate between their girls and boys teams, their first and second teams)

1.3. Schools are allowed special clothing for special occasions provided that the design is approved by The League Office/Amarider.

2. Spur League merchandise: the League offers a choice of approved League merchandise (shirts, shorts, shells and arm warmers) to school teams and riders. Available at:

2.1. Range for 2019 will be launched on 20 March and available at the Spurfest @ Gariep Dam

2.2. https://www.spurmtbleague.co.za/

3. The school’s official general-purpose casual/sport sleeved shirt and shorts. Only school identity branding allowed. No sleeveless shirts allowed

4. Neutral cycling kit

4.1. Cycling garments with no branding, no slogans and no emblems allowed

4.2. Manufacturer’s name/logo may appear once on each garment – a single space totaling 30cm²

REGULATIONS FOR THE SCHOOL CYCLING KIT DESIGN

1. The design should primarily promote A) the school’s identity and B) the National League Sponsor’s interests

2. For the promotion of The Spur Schools League and the primary sponsor, the school kit design must include the Spur League’s approved logo on their official school cycling shirts:

2.1. The logo should appear once on the shirt in the upper right chest position

2.2. The logo is available in PDF Format, full colour, in black & white OR navy & white – available for download on https://www.spurmtbleague.co.za/

2.3. The logo size should be printed no smaller than 72 mm x 75 mm with a 25 mm safe-space (no interfering writing or branding) all around

3. If any school’s sponsor infringe on The League primary sponsor, The League reserves the right to not approve the design

4. No sleeveless jerseys/shirts allowed

5. No collarless cycling jerseys allowed (collar to be minimum 20 mm wide)

6. Sleeves should cover at least 1/3rd of the upper arm

7. Pants should cover at least 1/2 of the upper leg

8. The League is not under any obligation to honour any individual riders’ commitments to sponsors

8.1. Individual sponsored riders may only cycle with a private sponsored cycling pants with the approval of their school

8.2. Individual sponsored riders’ shorts has to follow the same branding regulations as set out below for school kit

BRANDING AND IDENTITY ON CYCLING JERSEY/SHIRT

1. THE FRONT (described as the area from the neck line to the waist and across chest) of the jersey is reserved for a) the school identity and if required by the school b) the clothing manufacturers branding and c) the Spur League’s logo d) The main school sponsor’s branding

1.1. School identity includes: school name and/or school nickname and/or school crest and/or school motto and/or rider’s name

1.2. Garment manufacturer’s branding, name or logo – a single space totalling 30 cm², any dimensions

1.2.1.Garment manufacturer’s logo allowed only once on the jersey/shirt

1.2.2.Once on the shirt left or right upper chest area

1.2.3.OR once on the shirt, any position on the back

1.3. The Spur League’s logo

1.4. Main sponsor’s branding is allowed in a single 10 cm band across the chest area, below the Spur League logo

1.4.1. For sponsor branding space on the front of the jersey, the school must be willing to share full agreement information and financial detail of the sponsorship with The League/Amarider

1.4.2.Only one sponsor allowed on the front

2. THE COLLAR (described as the area covering the neck, minimum 20 mm wide) is reserved for school identity only

3. THE SLEEVES (described as the area covering the arm and/or shoulder) are reserved for school identity and/or sponsors

3.1. Sponsors are allowed 50 mm wide/high in a straight line along or across the sleeve

3.2. Only one sponsor allowed per sleeve (could be the same sponsor on both sleeves)

4. THE BACK (described as the area from the neck line to the waist and across the back including the pocket area) is reserved for the school’s identity and, if required by the school, the garment manufacturer’s branding (see 1.2. and 1.3. for details) and a sponsor

4.1. School identity includes: school name, school nickname, school crest, school motto and rider’s name

4.2. Sponsors are allowed a single 10 cm band across the back. One sponsor allowed on the back

5. THE SIDE PANEL/AREA (described as the area under the armpit to waist) are reserved for school identity and/or sponsors

5.1. Sponsors are allowed 80 mm wide/high in a straight line along or across this panel/area

5.2. Only one sponsor allowed per side panel/area (could be the same sponsor on both sides)

BRANDING AND IDENTITY ON CYCLING SHORTS/BIB-SHORTS

1. THE CYCLING PANTS are reserved for school identity and/or sponsor’s branding and/or garment manufacturer’s branding

1.1. Sponsors are allowed 80 mm wide/high in a straight line along or across a leg

1.2. Only one sponsor allowed per leg (could be the same sponsor on both legs)

1.3. Garment manufacturer’s branding, name/logo – a single space totalling 30 cm², any dimensions

1.4. Branding on the back of the shorts above the saddle (number plate position) is reserved for school identity only

BRANDING AND IDENTITY ON LONG SLEEVES AND/OR ARM EXTENSIONS

1. Reserved for school identity and/or sponsors

1.1. Sponsors are allowed 50 mm wide/high in a straight line along or across the sleeve extension

1.2. Only one sponsor allowed per sleeve extension (could be the same sponsor on both sleeves)

1.3. Detachable arm sleeves are allowed a manufacturer’s branding, name/logo – a single space totalling 30 cm², any dimensions, per sleeve

BRANDING AND IDENTITY ON HELMET

Branding on the helmet is reserved for the helmet manufacturer’s branding, the school’s and/or rider’s identity only

BRANDING AND IDENTITY ON CYCLING SOCKS

1. Branding on the socks are reserved for the socks manufacturer’s logo/name – a single space totaling 30 cm², any dimensions per sock

2. and/or the school’s identity

BRANDING AND IDENTITY ON CYCLING SHOES

1. Branding on the shoes are reserved for the shoe manufacturer’s brand and/or the school’s identity only
